Saarinen's Quest: A Memoir. Richard Knight

Joining Eero Saarinen’s office as a designer and growing into the role of in-house photographer, Richard Knight captured hundreds of images of the behind-the-scenes process there. This unique personal account of the process, culture, and history of Saarinen’s office is prefaced by a foreword by Cesar Pelli, and a contextual essay by Pierluigi Serraino, highlighting the critical role of large-scale model building practiced in Saarinen’s office.

  1. I was wondering if Richard was related to the late Edwin Gamble, Maine artist.

  2. Hello, Anna!

That is a good question. We asked Judith, who said Edwin Gamble does not appear on the family tree Richard created.

However, as you can see in this post on the blog

    http://richardgambleknight.blogspot.com/2010/11/portraits-of-richards-great-great.html

Richard's ancestors first arrived in North America in Newfoundland, Canada, right next door to Maine.

We would be delighted if it were determined Edwin Gamble and Richard are related. It would be a new branch on the family tree.

    Best regards,

    Michael
